People spotlight: Amar Hassan

To kick off 2025, we’re continuing our people of Macro spotlight series. First up, we caught up with Amar Hassan, Senior Supply Chain Manager for MENA and APAC.

Tell us about your role at Macro

As Macro's Senior Supply Chain Manager for MENA and APAC, I lead the selection of top-tier vendors, driving strategic partnerships across the region to deliver exceptional client value. My expertise spans contract development, value procurement, and ensuring ethical practices. I also play a key role in executing and mobilizing complex projects by mitigating challenges within the supply chain. Additionally, I'm passionate about continuous improvement, fostering a culture of innovation to develop the regional supply chain for greater efficiency and success.

What do you like about Macro?

What I truly appreciate about Macro is the authentic and supportive environment. The team genuinely values and respects each other's individuality, creating a positive space where open communication thrives. This aligns perfectly with how I like to work. The leadership's inclusivity and approachability further foster this sense of belonging. Macro's commitment to mental wellbeing and work-life balance resonates deeply with me, and the culture of ownership, even with failures, allows for growth and learning. It's truly a place where you can be yourself and deliver your best work.

What do you want to do next?

I'm incredibly excited about the immense business opportunities Macro has in the MENA and APAC regions. While I recognize potential challenges in regional procurement and supply chains, I'm eager to leverage my experience and expertise to mitigate them. My goal is to be at the forefront, driving Macro's growth story and celebrating its rise to becoming a top-tier IFM company globally.

Who have been your strongest influences in life?

My strongest influences are my parents. Growing up in 1980s India, they faced immense financial challenges as farmers. Despite limited resources, their unwavering dream of a quality education for me and my sister fuelled their relentless efforts. Their sacrifice and determination instilled in me the values of perseverance, gratitude, and the power of education. These values continue to shape my approach to challenges, propelling me forward in life.

What motivates you every day?

Every day, I'm motivated by a sense of perspective. As a spiritual person, I believe we're part of something much larger. True value lies in appreciating what we have. When I lack motivation for a jog, I remember those who can't walk. When I take a good meal for granted, I think of children yearning for simple treats. When work feels overwhelming, I'm grateful for the opportunity many desires. This practice of gratitude and perspective keeps me grounded and motivated to make the most of each day.
